California needs more big batteries

California is increasing its battery storage capacity to achieve its goal of 100% clean electricity by 20451. The state will need an enormous quantity of batteries to store and shift its growing supply of solar power to the hours when electricity demand is highest2. The influx of battery storage is reshaping the demand curve and reducing the impact of fossil gas.
